Beefeater Gin originated in Chelsea, where it was produced at a distillery. The production of Beefeater Gin was originally founded by the Taylor family, where the product was later acquired by James Burrough. Since taking over the production, James Burrough has undergone a major development of the product. As a result of this great development, the popularity of Beefeater Gin also increased. The surge in popularity meant that production of the product was first moved to a distillery in Lambeth – after which a further increase in popularity resulted in production being moved to Kensington, where the product is still produced today. In 2005, Beefeater Gin was acquired by Pernod Ricard, a French company. The company’s intention with the purchase of Beefeater Gin is to bring the product back as London’s favorite Gin.
