El Ron Prohibido Solera is the forbidden rum. The story goes that back in the 1700s, Spanish sailors filled empty barrels with Mexican rum when they returned to Spain. The combination of the flavor from the barrels and the barrels’ previous contents, sweet Spanish wine, gave the rum a unique and delicious taste. The rum was so popular in Spain that it was a threat to local producers and was therefore banned by the king. It thus became the “forbidden rum”.

El Ron Prohibido Solera 15 is a recreation of the old rum. Aged for 15 years, it offers a wonderful aroma of nuts, vanilla, brown sugar and raisins. The taste is a lovely combination of chocolate, coffee, honey, nutmeg and raisins.
