Grimbergen Blonde is a unique golden blonde beer of the very special Belgian beer type: Belgian Abbey Ale. The aroma is dominated by distinct fruity notes of banana, spicy notes of clove, pickled pears and honeydew melon. The taste is round and sweet, followed by a mild pleasant bitterness for an overall elegant balance. The body is round, fresh and refreshing with an uncomplicated aftertaste

The tradition of Grimbergen beer dates back to the 12th century, when the Norbertine Abbey of Grimbergen was built in a village just north of Brussels. Because the monastery has been destroyed and burned down several times throughout history, the monks were forced to abandon their brewing tradition. In 1958, however, they made a deal with the smaller Belgian brewery Alken-Maes, who then started brewing Grimbergen’s wonderful beer again – according to the monastery’s old recipes.

Grimbergen Blonde has won many international awards – including Gold in 2018 and Silver in 2019 in the unique Belgian Abbey Ale category at the World Beer Awards.

The complex flavor makes Grimbergen Blonde perfect for braised and oven roasted pork and chicken, or sandwiches with fatty fish such as salmon, or salads with shrimp and shellfish, and delicate cheeses.
