Jägermeister dates back to 1935 and is still made today according to exactly the same principles as in the old days. Plants, parts of plants, herbs and flowers are soaked in strong alcohol to extract the good substances/flavors. This concentrate, which has an alcoholic strength of just under 70%, is aged in large oak barrels for at least 12 months; only then is the perfect quality achieved.

Jägermeister contains 56 different plants/roots/fruits/flowers. Here is a small selection of them: Rhubarb root, gentian root, angostura bark, beechnut, lavender flowers, melissa, pimpinella, fennel seed and licorice root. This is why Jägermeister is not the cheapest bitter on the market. The names of the other ingredients are kept as a deep secret by Jägermeister.

Today, Jägermeister is among the world’s top 10 international brands.

Commercials with the slogan “serve ice cold” have attracted many new fans and have given Jägermeister a bit of a revival. The commercials were created and developed in Denmark.

The classic way to enjoy Jägermeister Bitter is as an ice-cold shot, either on its own or with beer. But it can also be used in various cocktails, for example in a Root 56 Jägermeister with ginger beer.
