Martell was founded in 1715 by Jean Martell, and is considered to be the oldest of the great cognac houses. Martell has grown to become one of the 4 largest producers of Cognac, with annual sales of more than 15 million bottles worldwide.

Martell uses Troncais oak for their cognac casks, Troncais oak is harder than the most commonly used types of oak, resulting in a stronger flavor.

Martell XO has a color that is deep with a golden coppery hue with a mahogany tinge.

The aroma gives an initial impression of dried fruits, beeswax and leather. After a slight oxygenation in the glass, a greater complexity emerges with a wide range of sweet fruits and dried flowers. Finally, hints of spices and oriental notes of nutmeg and sandalwood.

The taste is round and fruity, with plenty of power and finesse. The finish is long and silky, leaving a sophisticated and elegant sensation in the mouth.
