Monkey stands for Max the monkey, whom the “little soldier” met when he moved to Berlin to help rebuild the Berlin Zoo after World War II. Missing his friends in India resulted in “the little soldier” and Max becoming very good friends. 47, yes, that stands for the number of ingredients the product contains. Monkey 47 Dry Gin consists of 47 ingredients, which is far more ingredients than in other gins. Often a gin only contains 6-10 ingredients, so with 47, the Germans have really pushed the boundaries for the number of ingredients in a gin.
