As the only pipe maker in the world, Tom Spanu created these high-quality “cork pipes” from a combination of Sardinian blackberry and cork oak bark. With the support of his family, Tom Spanu personally oversaw the entire creation process of his unique pieces, from digging up the blackberry roots and selecting the cork bark to the final finishing touches.

Few pipe makers possess such an extensive knowledge of their material and have internalized its essence as deeply as he has. With skillful craftsmanship and meticulous care, Tom Spanu has given each of his pipes such an organic character that they appear to be carved from a single, solid piece of cork oak. Each pipe is a unique work of art with a special charisma. The cork surface is robust and insulating, the pipe is lightweight despite its medium to large bowl capacity, and the core is made from selected blackberry.

Whether presented individually in an elegant pipe bag or with a decorative cork display, a Tom Spanu “cork pipe” is unmistakable and conveys the Mediterranean flair of its native Sardinia. Sadly, Tom Spanu has since passed away and it is unknown if pipes of this kind will ever be made again.
