To celebrate the friendship between two exceptional men – King Haakon VII of Norway and Valdemar Riise, A.H Riis XO Royal Reserve “Kong Haakon” is a rare limited edition rum.

Riise was the owner of A.H. Riise Rum and Pharmacy, which was founded by his father Albert Heinrich Riise in 1838 on the island of St. Thomas in the Danish West Indies.

Haakon VII was originally Prince Carl of Denmark before he was crowned King of Norway in 1905. His parents were King Frederik VIII and Queen Louise of Denmark.

This rum is based on the original recipe, which was King Haakon’s favorite. It is introduced in very limited quantities and is commercially available for the first time.

Prince Carl was trained at the Royal Danish Navy and visited the Danish West Indies twice on board the warships Fregatten Fyn and Fregatten Jylland.

King Haakon and Valdemar Riise established a close friendship over the years and met privately on several occasions.
