Ardbeg is a whisky distillery on the Scottish island of Islay and was founded in 1815. Ardbeg whiskies are known for their strong smoky and peaty flavors that are characteristic of Islay whiskies in general.

Ardbeg Ten is a blend of different types of Ardbeg whiskies selected by whisky guru Jim Murray. For many peat junkies, it sets the standard for what good smoked whisky is. Rightly or wrongly, this whisky enjoys incredible popularity with this particular group of whisky drinkers. The peaty aroma is indicative of a high phenol content, and the “ashtray” character is pronounced. However, the smell – or rather the aroma – is also sweet and spicy at the same time. The taste is smoky, iodine, salt, spices and licorice, and the aftertaste is characterized by peat, smoke and sweetness.
