The history of Bommerlunder Akvavit dates back to 1760 and the German inn “Zu Bommerlunder”. It is said that back in the day, a wounded rider sought rest at the aforementioned inn. The rider was so grateful to the innkeeper for the good food and hospitality that he gave the innkeeper, Peter Schwnnesen, the formula for a fantastic aquavit. This is said to be the origin of this Bommerlunder Akvavit.
