In 1751, Severo Arango y Ferro arrives in Cartagena de Indiasto, Colombia, establishing control and increasing trade between the Spanish colonies in South America and Spain.

His strength and power earned him the nickname “Dictador”

Severo was excited about many things in the New World – and the local rum was one of them, and he decided to get involved in rum production in the area.

A descendant – Don Julio Arango y Parra – then established Destilería Colombiana in 1913, which produces Dictador rum and many other great products to this day.

Dictador rum is made by fermenting a mixture of molasses and sugar cane. The substance is then distilled in steel columns and filled into oak barrels that are aged using the solera method. Finally, the rum is bottled under the highest quality control.

The bouquet of Dictador 12 is intense with soft caramel, honey, dried seeds, roasted coffee and oak. The taste is soft and round with caramel, cocoa, honey, coffee and oak notes.
