In 2004, Hoyos petit Robusto was created, probably the best new cigar of the year. Flavorful with rich spices, sweet notes and great complexity, it matures well. Generally mild and earthy at first, it quickly evolves gradually without being aggressive. It reminds me of Cuba’s glory days and pre-Castro small cigars such as El Rey Del Mundo, Royal Serie No. 3. The aromas developed are so round and aromatic that we can almost forget that this is a young cigar. The aftertaste is outstanding and it’s just hard to stop smoking the last part, even when your fingers start to burn.
