Jacobsen Brown Ale is a deep chestnut brown color with a creamy head. The aroma offers a rich malty character, equally met by rich roasted notes of caramel, coffee and bitter chocolate. The taste is strong and full-bodied with an understated fruitiness and malt sweetness, followed by a pronounced dryness and a slight aftertaste. The deep brown color is reminiscent of mahogany. To describe the smell, we have to go to the world of wine, where it is reminiscent of the Sauvignon Blanc grape.

The recipe for this Jacobsen specialty beer is clearly inspired by the Northern English brown ales that Carl Jacobsen studied on his travels to England and Scotland in the late 1860s. The beer is top-fermented with one of our favorite top-fermenting strains, which is of English origin.

Jacobsen Brown Ale is an excellent beer for roasted, fried, grilled and braised meat. The caramelized malt notes often found in dark beers, and especially in a full-bodied, English style like Jacobsen Brown Ale, harmonize beautifully with roasted meat.
