Just over 400 kilometers north of Stockholm is the small gin distillery Hernö Brenneri in the town of Dala. Said to be the northernmost gin distillery in the world, the distillery was established in 2011 and on December 1, 2012 Hernö Brenneri released its first gin, Hernö Swedish Excellence Gin.

Hernö Navy Strength Gin is in all its simplicity Hernö’s original Swedish Excellence Gin with less water, which makes a huge difference.

With an alcoholic strength of 57% vol. Hernö Navy Strength Gin is a powerful gentleman. And the notes that characterize the Navy Strength version are slightly different from Swedish Excellence Gin.

While the original was as fresh as a northern Swedish pine needle forest on a frosty winter morning, Hernö Navy Strength is much more spicy and intense. On the nose you’ll find lots of coriander, pine needle, lemon peel and flowers. The scent is both sweet and filled with lots of pine needle.

In the mouth, the initial kick of 57% alcohol is followed by a lovely spicy warmth. The taste is round, soft and intense with prominent pine needle, zesty lemon zest, sweet flower, spicy citrus from coriander seeds and slightly tingling pepper notes.

The finish is long and intense with lots of citrus, pepper and meadowsweet.
