Just over 400 kilometers north of Stockholm is the small gin distillery Hernö Brenneri in the town of Dala. Said to be the northernmost gin distillery in the world, the distillery was established in 2011 and on December 1, 2012 Hernö Brenneri released its first gin, Hernö Swedish Excellence Gin.

Hernö Old Tom Gin is largely a sweet version of Hernö Swedish Excellence Gin, and like all Hernö gins, it is organic and contains the eight ingredients: juniper, coriander seeds, meadowsweet, cassia bark, black pepper, vanilla, cranberries and lemon peel.

Hernö Old Tom Gin contains extra meadowsweet compared to Hernö’s other products. All ingredients are soaked in organic wheat alcohol for 18 hours and then distilled. After distillation, sugar is added to the gin concentrate to give the gin the deep, sweet taste and rich texture that characterizes an Old Tom Gin.

Hernö Old Tom Gin has the familiar Hernöske freshness. The nose is filled with a fresh and almost perfumed juniper, lemon peel and flowers.

The taste is strong with floral and juniper notes, yet citrusy and sweet.
