Ron Zacapa has been producing their world-famous rum since the late seventies and it is perhaps the most famous premium rum in the world.

Ron Zacapa doesn’t use molasses like 90% of the rum industry does. Instead, they have their own sugar cane fields where they use the more expensive cane sugar honey, which contains much more sugar. Which is a major reason why Ron Zacapa is a sweeter rum than its competitors.

Ron Zacapa Centenario XO is the crown jewel of the Zacapa rum series. Made from the juice of virgin sugar cane, aged for 23 years in the Solera at an altitude of 2300 meters in Guatemala, and finally a unique 2 year barrel aging in old French cognac barrels.

The big difference between Ron Zacapa 23 year and this 25 year Ron Zacapa XO is the extra 2 years the XO is aged. It gives much more “edge” and more nuances in the flavor.

The scent is complex with notes of leather and sweet smoke.

The flavor of the cask comes through clearly, but also notes of caramel and a sweet hint of vanilla. The aftertaste is long and very pleasant.
