Clase Azul San Luis Potosí is produced in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí. It is produced with the help of Agave salmiana (also called “green agave” on the Clase Azul website). It is made by producers in the Estación Ipiña region near the Zacatecas border. The plants are grown at altitudes around 6,500 feet.
The suggested retail price of $370 USD makes it one of the most expensive mezcals ever at the time of release.
Clase Azul
Clase Azul is primarily a tequila company, but they also release mezcal. Their first mezcal release was made in the state of Durango, where the extreme climate, the rich minerals in its soil and the source of natural springs in the area, give special power and complexity to its notes, making it a different mezcal than what is produced elsewhere in Mexico. Their second release comes from the state of Guerrero. Both are packaged in tall and ornate ceramic bottles.
