Sambuca Opal Nera was made many years ago according to a secret recipe by Francoli, a family business based in Northern Italy. The company, whose roots go back several generations, created the world’s first CO2-neutral distillery and has always been at the forefront of pioneering spirits.

The main ingredients in Opal Nera are various spices such as star anise and green anise. In addition, many other natural ingredients are used including elderflower, elderberry, orange, coriander, cinnamon, clover and Sicilian lemon. All the ingredients are soaked and distilled separately, then blended together to ensure the perfect balance and softness of Opal Nera. The elderberries also play an important role in achieving the liqueur’s rich and unique purple color. Lastly, the water used in the production process is drawn from a natural spring located below the mountains near the distillery.
