7UP was created by Charles Leiper Grigg. Grigg worked on developing the product for more than 2 years before achieving his goal: refreshing and thirst-quenching. When 7UP was launched in the fall of 1929, it was first called Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda, but shortly after its launch it was renamed 7UP.
