In the 17th century, the French missionary Tertre traveled to the islands of the Caribbean Sea. When he returned, he wrote a book about what he had seen. In addition to stories about the nature of the local people and

life, he also mentioned Puerto Rican rum, which had a rich and incomparable flavor.

Rum “Rancado” Black is made from sugar cane juice that is heated to a liquid syrup. Molasses is separated in the resulting mass. The juice is then left to ferment in copper vats. The next step is distillation. The rum is aged in burnt oak barrels and then distilled twice more. The rum takes on a rich dark brown or brownish amber color. On average, the dark rum is aged for at least 3 years, after which it is bottled without filtration.

The taste is soft and velvety and the aroma is light with hints of walnut and pepper. The black rum is therefore excellent as a base for cocktails, as well as fruit juices and berry and fruit drinks
