Named after William Shakespeare’s tragic lovers, Romeo & Julieta dates back to 1875 as a cigar brand. The brand rose to international fame in the early years of the 20th century under the leadership of Don “Pepin” Fernandez, who was among
the first to recognize the attraction of the cigar band. In his heyday, no less than 20,000 different bands were used in production.
Winston Churchill became a fan of Romeo & Julieta. Since his visit to Havana in 1946, his name has been commemorated on a band and used to describe the brand’s most famous size – 7 inches x 47 – Churchill.
Romeo y Julieta’s balanced and aromatic blend of selected leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region makes it the classic medium-bodied brand.
