The black elixir, the alchemy of Nordenfjord and the gentleman of beer. The dear child has taken on many names. There is no doubt that former brewmaster Peter Klemensen had Limfjordsporteren as his brainchild, as he developed the recipe over seven years before it was first released in 1989. Head brewer Christian Harboe has also carefully selected the ingredients for the special Christmas edition of Limfjordsporteren, which has been introduced for Christmas 2022.

The recipe is of course a well-kept secret, but we will reveal that vanilla from Tahiti and port from Quinta Do Estanho are added. The roasted malt leads the flavor in the direction of coffee, dark chocolate, caramel and a faint hint of smoke. The scent of vanilla is evident and the added port adds sweetness and freshness. The brewer’s starting point was to pair the Christmas Port with the sweet desserts of Christmas, but it has also proven to be enjoyed with the savory, salty and acidic dishes of Christmas or just as a complex flavor experience on its own.
