Otima is an innovation in port wine that breaks all stereotypes of port wine, as evidenced by the beautiful and different bottle type.
Warre’s was founded in 1670 as the first British port wine producer and since then, the company has been a pioneer and market leader in port wine. They were the first to establish their own wine cellars in Villa Nova de Gaia, a clear testament to the Warre family’s early recognition of the importance of ageing to the quality of good port.
Port Wine. Warre’s is now owned by the Symington family, who have been in the Port business continuously for 13 generations. Day-to-day management from Winemaker to CEO is handled by the family and no other family owns so many premium vineyards in the Douro Valley. Warre’s is the only Port house,
who can write “Royal Court Supplier” on the label.
The age statement on Otima is 20 years, which means that the average aging of different vintages produces a style like a 20-year-old Tawny. The aging is done in oak barrels (pipes) in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia. Otima offers slightly smoky notes with a soft walnut and dried fruit flavor and a rich delicate sweetness. The innate sweetness feels rich and very delicate.
Served slightly chilled with dessert or cheese, for example, port wine is a delicate and fresh pleasure.
