Millennium – Gran Selezione is Losi’s top wine. An excellent wine that everyone should taste. It was first produced in 2000 and is only made in particularly good vintages. Tranquillo Losi, founder of the Losi winery, chose the famous oenologist Tancredi Biondi Santi from the beginning, from whom the winery learned many valuable secrets for making the very best wines. The grapes are grown on south-southwest facing slopes on stony and clayey soils.

After harvest, fermentation takes place in steel tanks for 15-20 days – partly to give the right balance of color and tannins for a true Chianti Classico. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is placed in cement tanks before aging in wooden barrels. Barrel aging takes place for 36 months in 10-20 hl oak barrels – before the wine is allowed to rest for 12-18 months in bottle before release. Annual production in the 2009 vintage is 5,000 bottles.

Gran Selezione 2009 has a beautiful, deep ruby red color. The bouquet is intense and complex, fruity with hints of ripe red and black berries. The taste has depth, is soft and elegant – and with a long lasting aftertaste. Best served at 18 degrees. Goes well with game and red meat.
